Game description:

Winter Olympics: Lillehammer ’94 is the official video game of the XVII Olympic Winter Games, released for the Sega Genesis in 1993 by U.S. Gold. The game features 10 authentic winter sporting events, including downhill skiing, bobsleigh, luge, ski jumping, and the biathlon. Players can practice individual events, compete in mini-tournaments, or take on the full Olympic experience representing different nations.

How to play

The objective varies by event, typically requiring a mix of speed, precision timing, and careful steering to achieve the fastest time or highest score. The default keyboard controls are mapped as follows:

  • Directional movement: Arrow keys
  • Action buttons (A/B/C): S, X, and Z keys
  • Start/Pause: Enter key

Tips

  • Bobsleigh and Luge: Steer into the turns early and try to keep your sled in the center of the track to maintain your momentum.
  • Ski Jumping: Wait until you are as close to the edge of the ramp as possible before jumping, and balance your skier carefully in the air to maximize distance.
  • Biathlon: Pace yourself during the skiing portion to keep your heart rate down; a lower heart rate will significantly reduce the wobble when it is time to shoot.
