Game description:

Winter Olympics: Lillehammer ’94 is a 1994 winter sports game developed by Tiertex Design Studios and published by U.S. Gold for the Sega Genesis. Released to coincide with the 1994 Winter Olympics, the game features a variety of snowy events including the biathlon, downhill skiing, giant slalom, ski jumping, bobsleigh, and short track speed skating. Players can compete in full Olympic modes or practice individual events to master the unique mechanics of each sport.

How to Play

Different events require distinct timing, button mashing, and steering skills. In speed-focused events like the bobsleigh and slalom, finding the ideal racing line is key to securing a medal, while ski jumping relies heavily on precise timing for takeoff and landing. The default Sega Genesis controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys for the D-pad, and Z, X, and C for the A, B, and C buttons, with Enter functioning as Start.

Tips

  • In the biathlon, pace your skiing to keep your heart rate down; a lower heart rate significantly improves your aiming accuracy during the shooting segments.
  • For ski jumping, wait until the very edge of the ramp to jump for maximum distance, and make sure to adjust your angle mid-air to land smoothly.
