Game description:

Winter Gold is a visually striking winter sports game released for the SNES in 1996. Developed by Funcom and powered by the Super FX2 chip, it pushes the 16-bit console to its limits with fast-paced 3D polygonal graphics. Players can hit the slopes and compete across six different winter disciplines, including downhill skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, bobsled, luge, and aerial skiing.

How to play

The objective is to master each event and secure the gold medal by achieving the fastest times or highest scores. The basic SNES controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow keys to steer, balance, and lean, press Z and X (acting as the A and B action buttons) to jump, accelerate, or perform tricks, and hit Enter (Start) to pause the game.

Tips

Mastering the start is crucial in timing-based events like the luge and bobsled; hit the accelerate button exactly when the timer hits zero for a massive initial speed boost. In the snowboarding and aerials events, focus on sticking the landing perfectly rather than squeezing in an extra trick, as a crash will cost you far more points than a simpler, well-executed jump.
