Game description:

Wetrix is a unique 3D puzzle game developed by Zed Two and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Instead of matching shapes or colors, your goal is to manage a dynamic landscape by dropping pieces of land to form lakes and enclosures. Once water begins to fall, you must safely contain it, using fire meteors to evaporate it for points and bombs to lower the terrain, all while preventing water from spilling off the edge of the board.

How to Play

The objective is to score as many points as possible by evaporating trapped water before the leak meter fills up. Controls for the Nintendo 64 map to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move pieces around the grid, Z and X (acting as the A and B buttons) to rotate them, and Enter for Start. Keep a close eye on your hazard meter, as letting too much water leak will end the game.

Tips

  • Build your walls thick, but make sure to leave a deep section in the center of your lakes so they can hold a larger volume of water.
  • Don’t waste fire on small puddles; let a large amount of water accumulate before evaporating it to maximize your score multiplier.
  • Use bombs carefully to lower raised land you no longer need, creating new areas for water to pool and reducing the height of the terrain.
