Wayne’s World is a 1993 action platformer released for the Sega Genesis, based on the hit comedy film. You play as Wayne Campbell, who gets sucked into a video game dimension and must rescue his best friend Garth Algar from a mysterious giant purple hand. Armed with an electric guitar that shoots literal power chords, you will battle bizarre enemies across familiar locations including Kramer’s Music Store, a gasworks, and Stan Mikita’s Donuts.
How to Play
As a standard Sega Genesis title, use the D-pad (mapped to your arrow keys) to run and duck. Press B (X) to jump, and A (Z) to fire sound waves from your guitar. Start (Enter) pauses the game. Explore the levels to find amplifiers that upgrade your guitar’s attack, and grab “Schwing” icons to restore health.
Tips
- Take your time with jumps; Wayne’s floaty jump arc requires precision, especially when navigating small moving platforms.
- Search the edges of the screen and hidden alcoves for amplifiers. Upgrading your guitar’s attack width is crucial for hitting fast-moving or flying enemies.
