Game description:

Vulgus Japan is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up released in 1984 for the Arcade, holding a special place in history as Capcom’s very first video game. Players pilot a lone spacecraft through endless waves of enemy ships. Unlike many later shooters, there is no final boss or ending; the game continues in an infinite loop, challenging you to survive as long as possible and achieve a high score.

How to Play

Your objective is to destroy enemy formations and survive for as long as possible while collecting “Pow” icons to replenish your bomb supply. Use the Arrow Keys to maneuver your ship. Press Z to fire your primary laser and X to launch bombs. To insert a coin and begin, use Shift or Enter.

Tips

  • Conserve your bombs for desperate situations or particularly large groups of enemies, as your supply is very limited.
  • Keep moving continuously; the screen frequently fills with fast-moving enemies and staying in one place will quickly result in taking a hit.
