Game description:

Virtua Fighter Animation brings Sega’s iconic 3D fighting series to the 8-bit Sega Master System as a surprisingly capable 2D brawler. Released specifically for the Brazilian market by Tec Toy, the game is based on the mid-90s anime adaptation and features a dedicated story mode that follows Akira Yuki’s journey, complete with cutscenes between matches. Despite the hardware limitations, the translation to 2D retains the distinct fighting styles of characters like Pai, Kage, and Wolf.

Unlike its arcade counterpart, this 8-bit adaptation uses a simplified control scheme designed for the Master System controller. Move your fighter with the D-pad, using up to jump and down to crouch. Attack using the two action buttons (mapped to Z and X on your keyboard) for punches and kicks. Blocking is performed by holding back away from your opponent, and special moves are executed with directional combinations alongside your attack buttons.

  • Take advantage of the Master System’s simpler physics by focusing on low kicks and sweeps, which the AI often struggles to defend against.
  • The story mode incorporates branching paths; losing a match doesn’t always result in a Game Over but can instead lead to different dialogue or alternative encounters.
