Vindicators is an action shooter released for the NES in 1988 by Tengen. Originally an arcade title known for its dual-joystick tank controls, this home port translates the challenging vehicular combat to standard controllers as you pilot through hostile bases, destroying enemy tanks and turrets while constantly managing your fuel supply.

How to play

Your objective in each level is to navigate to the exit before your tank runs out of fuel. Because you consume fuel continuously as you move, it is essential to collect the fuel canisters scattered throughout the map. Player 1 steers using the arrow keys, with Z and X to fire your weapons and use collected upgrades. A second player can join in on the same keyboard for co-op mode.

Tips

Since moving drains your fuel, plan your routes carefully and avoid backtracking whenever possible.
Prioritize destroying stationary enemy turrets from a distance before they can pin you down in a crossfire.
Save your powerful weapon upgrades for crowded areas to clear them quickly and preserve your fuel.
