Released by Capcom in 1994, Vampire: The Night Warriors (known internationally as Darkstalkers) is a pioneering 2D arcade fighting game that pits a roster of classic monsters and folklore creatures against each other. Built on the CPS-2 arcade hardware, the game introduced vibrant, highly detailed animations and laid the mechanical foundation for many modern fighters by introducing chain combos, air blocking, and crouch walking.
How to Play
Choose your monster and fight through the arcade ladder in best-of-three matches against the CPU. In the browser emulator, use Shift to insert coins and Enter to start. Move and jump with the Arrow Keys, and execute attacks using Z, X, C for punches and A, S, D for kicks.
Tips
- Chain Combos: You can link basic attacks together in ascending strength (Light to Medium to Heavy). Use this to create devastating, easy-to-execute combinations.
- Manage the Special Meter: Unlike later fighting games, your special meter drains automatically over time once it maxes out. Use your enhanced ES or EX special moves as soon as the meter is full.
- Air Blocking: Take advantage of the game’s unique air blocking system to defend against projectiles and anti-air attacks while jumping.
