Up’n Down is a 1983 arcade racer from Sega, played from a vertically scrolling, pseudo-3D perspective. You drive a purple dune buggy up a winding hill track, dodging traffic and collecting flags on your way to the top of each round.
How to Play
Steer with the arrow keys: up and down speed your buggy up or slow it down, and left/right switch lanes at track intersections. Press the jump key to launch the buggy into the air â jump over rival cars to clear them, or land on top of one to smash it for points. Colliding with a car instead, or driving off the track into the grass or water, costs you a life. Collect all ten colored flags scattered across the track to complete a round.
Tips
- Landing squarely on top of a rival car scores more than simply jumping over it, so look for safe chances to smash rather than just dodge.
- Straying off the track into the grass or water ends your turn just like a collision does, so treat the road’s edges as carefully as the traffic.
