Game description:

Twin Qix is an unreleased arcade puzzle game developed by Taito in 1995. Built as a continuation of the classic territory-capture formula, it allows two players to simultaneously draw lines and claim sections of the screen. As a prototype, it offers a rare glimpse into a cancelled arcade project while maintaining the fast-paced, high-risk area-claiming gameplay of the original Qix.

How to Play

The objective is to capture a set percentage of the screen’s area by drawing closed boxes, all while dodging hazards that move along the borders and inside the unclaimed space. When playing in the browser, default Arcade controls apply: use the Arrow Keys to move your marker, press Z or X to draw fast or slow lines, and use Shift or Enter to insert coins and start. Slower lines award higher points but leave you vulnerable for longer.

Tips

  • Bait the enemies: Wait for the main Qix enemy to bounce towards the top of the screen before drawing a large vertical box at the bottom.
  • Use the borders: Your marker is safe while sitting still on an already claimed border, so take your time to plan your next move.
