Twin Eagle is an intense vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up released for the NES in 1990. Piloting an advanced combat helicopter, players navigate through heavily defended enemy territory to rescue hostages and destroy hostile forces. Originally an arcade title, this 8-bit port brings the fast-paced aerial combat home, featuring challenging bullet-hell elements and a memorable soundtrack.
How to play
Your objective is to survive waves of enemy aircraft and ground installations while racking up points and collecting power-ups. Since the screen scrolls automatically, you must constantly weave through incoming fire.
Use the Arrow keys to maneuver your helicopter, press Z to fire your primary vulcan cannons, and use X to launch devastating bombs that clear the screen of minor enemies and damage heavily armored targets. Press Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Save your bombs for critical moments, such as when you are cornered by enemy fire or facing a tough boss.
- Pay attention to ground targets; destroying certain buildings will reveal hidden power-ups and hostages that boost your score and weapon strength.
- Keep moving constantly to make yourself a harder target, as enemy bullets will frequently track your current position.
