Game description:

Released in 1994 for the SNES, Turn and Burn: No-Fly Zone by Absolute Entertainment is a dedicated combat flight simulator that puts you in the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat. Unlike many aerial games of its era that used a third-person arcade view, this title commits entirely to a first-person perspective, challenging players to engage enemy targets using the plane’s built-in computer and radar.

How to Play

Your objective is to pilot your aircraft through a series of combat missions, taking down hostile fighters and navigating the skies. In the browser, you can use the arrow keys to steer your jet, while the action buttons (typically Z, X, A, S, along with the shoulder controls) manage your throttle, weapon systems, and countermeasures. Notably, a second player can join in to act as the Radar Intercept Officer, managing the radar and weapons while you focus entirely on flying.

Tips

  • Master the HUD: Keep a close eye on your cockpit instruments. Because of the first-person perspective, relying on your radar is essential to track enemies beyond visual range.
  • Manage countermeasures: Use your chaff and flares deliberately. Deploying them at the exact right moment is your only defense once an enemy missile has locked onto you.
  • Control your speed: Flying at maximum thrust makes tight maneuvers impossible. Throttle down during close dogfights so you can turn faster and slip behind enemy jets.
