Total Carnage is a chaotic multidirectional shooter released for the Arcade by Midway in 1992. As a spiritual successor to Smash TV, players control Captain Carnage and Major Mayhem, blasting their way through endless waves of mutants and soldiers to stop the villainous General Akhboob.
How to Play
Survive relentless enemy swarms, rescue hostages, and collect keys, bombs, and powerful weapon upgrades to progress. Since this is an arcade twin-stick shooter, gameplay revolves around moving in one direction while firing in another. In the browser, movement is mapped to your directional keys, while the action buttons control your fire direction. Insert a coin (usually Shift) and press Enter to begin.
Tips
- Keep moving: Standing still is a quick way to get overwhelmed; constantly circle the arena to herd enemies.
- Save your bombs: You have a limited supply of screen-clearing bombs. Save them for tight corners or bullet-heavy boss fights.
- Hunt for keys: Gathering keys will unlock valuable bonus rooms filled with weapon upgrades and extra lives.
