Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 brings the legendary skateboarding franchise to the Nintendo 64, released in 2001. Following up on the massive success of the original, this sequel introduces the manualโa crucial mechanic that lets you link vert and street tricks into massive combos. You’ll skate iconic, sprawling levels like the Hangar, School II, and Venice Beach, completing objectives and hunting down secret tapes as you build your skater’s stats.
How to Play
The goal is to complete level objectives (like scoring points, collecting S-K-A-T-E, and finding hidden items) within a two-minute run. Use the D-pad or analog stick to steer. Press the A button equivalent to ollie, B for flip tricks, and C-buttons for grabs and grinds. To perform a manual and extend your combo on flat ground, quickly tap Up then Down (or Down then Up) just before landing.
Tips
- Always look for gaps to multiply your score; chaining a grind into a manual and then into a special trick can easily secure the “Sick Score” objective.
- Don’t forget to spend your cash between levels. Upgrading your skater’s “Hangtime” and “Ollie” stats first makes reaching hidden areas much easier.
