Released in 1989 for the NES, The Three Stooges is an eccentric mini-game collection developed by Cinemaware. Based on the legendary comedy trio, the game tasks you with raising $5,000 in 30 in-game days to save a local orphanage from foreclosure. It combines board game-style progression with slapstick action sequences inspired directly by classic Stooges short films.
How to Play
Your progress is determined on a board where a fast-moving hand selects your next activity. You’ll need to time your presses to land on money-making mini-gamesโlike throwing pies at the Hoiti Toiti club, a chaotic cracker-eating contest, or retrieving medical supplies in a hospital race. Be careful to avoid hazard spaces, like mousetraps, which can prematurely end your turn.
- Arrow Keys: D-pad (Move)
- Z / X: B / A Buttons (Perform actions)
- Enter / Shift: Start / Select (Choose activities on the selection screen)
Tips
- Use the Slap-O-Meter: If the hand on the selection board is moving too fast, intentionally land on the slap spaces. Letting Moe pummel Larry and Curly will actually slow the selection hand down, making it much easier to target the mini-games you are best at.
- Beware the Oysters: During the cracker-eating contest, grabbing an oyster by mistake will severely slow Curly down. Focus on accuracy over pure speed.
