The Fairyland Story is a classic arcade platformer released by Taito in 1985. You play as Ptolemy, a young witch who must navigate through single-screen stages to defeat enemies by turning them into cakes and dropping them off platforms. It laid the groundwork for later arcade classics like Bubble Bobble.
How to Play
The objective is to clear each stage of enemies before time runs out. Use the directional controls to move Ptolemy and jump between platforms. Press the primary action button to shoot magic that transforms enemies into cakes, then push the cakes off ledges to crush other enemies below for bonus points. The default arcade controls are mapped to the arrow keys for movement, with Z for magic and X to jump. Press Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Enemies turned into cakes will eventually thaw out and become angry, moving faster. Push them quickly!
- Dropping a cake so it squashes multiple enemies at once is the key to achieving a high score.
- Pay attention to the layout of the platforms; you can shoot magic through the floor directly above you to surprise enemies.
