Game description:

Tetris 2 on the Game Boy (1993) shifts the classic puzzle formula from clearing horizontal lines to a color-matching mechanic. Players drop familiar falling tetrominoes to connect three or more blocks of the same shade. The main objective is to clear specific target blocks, known as “flash blocks,” from the board to advance to the next level.

How to play

The goal is to eliminate all the fixed flash blocks on the screen. Match three or more blocks of the same color either horizontally or vertically to make them disappear. The standard Game Boy controls map to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move the falling pieces, press Z and X to rotate them, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.

Tips

  • Target the Flash Blocks: Focus entirely on the flash blocks; clearing regular blocks does not help you beat the stage and only clutters the board.
  • Build Chain Reactions: Try to set up chain reactions by positioning blocks so that clearing one set causes the pieces above to fall into another match.
