Released by Konami in 1989, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (the UK release of the legendary arcade cabinet) is a classic 2D scrolling beat-’em-up. You select one of the four half-shell heroes to battle through the streets and sewers of New York City, taking down endless waves of Foot Clan soldiers to rescue April O’Neil and Splinter from Shredder.
How to Play
Your goal is to survive each stage and defeat the boss at the end. As an arcade title, the controls are mapped to a standard joystick and two buttons. Use the Arrow Keys to move, Z to attack, and X to jump. You can insert virtual coins by pressing Shift, and press Enter to start.
Tips
- The Special Attack: Pressing jump (X) and attack (Z) simultaneously unleashes a powerful sweep that clears nearby enemies, though it can leave you briefly vulnerable afterwards.
- Donatello’s Reach: If you want to keep enemies at bay, Donatello’s bo staff gives him the longest reach, making him ideal for crowd control.
- Jump Kicks: A flying kick (jump, then attack in mid-air) is the safest way to enter a group of Foot Soldiers without getting instantly surrounded.
