Game description:

Tatsujin (released internationally as Truxton) is a relentless vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up brought to the Sega Genesis in 1989 by Toaplan. Renowned for its punishing difficulty and massive screen-clearing weapons, this classic arcade port drops you into a desperate battle against the Gidans across five intense, looping stages.

How to play

Take control of the Super Fighter ship and blast your way through waves of alien forces, collecting power-ups to upgrade your primary weapon and stockpile destructive Tatsujin bombs. On the Sega Genesis emulator, use the arrow keys to pilot your ship, the Z key to fire your main weapon, and the X key to unleash your screen-clearing bomb. The Enter key begins the game and pauses the action.

Tips

  • Your ship’s hitbox is relatively large, so focus on memorizing enemy spawn patterns rather than trying to dodge everything on reaction.
  • Don’t hoard your Tatsujin bombs; use them defensively when cornered, as dying will cost you all your active weapon upgrades and drop your speed back to default.
