Released in 1984, Syusse Oozumou is a classic arcade sumo wrestling game that challenges players to climb the traditional ranking system. Stepping into the dohyō, you must use timing, leverage, and raw power to defeat a series of opponents. As an early arcade representation of the sport, it captures the intense, fast-paced nature of real sumo bouts.
How to Play
The objective of each match follows standard sumo rules: you must either push your opponent out of the circular ring or force them to touch the ground with any part of their body other than the soles of their feet.
In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to move your wrestler and position yourself for an attack. Press Z and X (representing the original arcade action buttons) to strike, grapple, and execute throws. To start the game, press Shift to insert a virtual coin and Enter to begin the match.
Tips
- Control the Center: Try to maintain your position in the middle of the ring. Being pushed near the edge drastically reduces your defensive options and gives the opponent the upper hand.
- Win the Grapple: When locked in a grapple with your opponent, rapidly tapping the action buttons is often required to overpower them and successfully execute a throw.
