Game description:

Super Punch Out Rev B is an alternate ROM revision of Super Punch-Out!!, Nintendo’s 1984 arcade sequel to the original black-and-white Punch-Out!!. Rendered in full colour, it puts you back in the ring as the same underdog challenger, working your way up through a new lineup of international opponents — Bear Hugger, Dragon Chan, Masked Muscle, Great Tiger, and the fearsome champion Nick Bruiser. The core idea carries over from the first game: read your opponent’s tells, dodge and counter, and land the knockout blow before the clock runs out.

How to Play

The objective is to knock out or win by TKO against each boxer before time expires. Every opponent telegraphs their attacks with a visual cue, and dodging at the right instant opens them up for a counter. Arcade controls are typically mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to dodge left, right, or duck, and the action keys to throw punches and unleash your KO uppercut once your star meter is full.

Tips

  • Watch for Great Tiger’s illusion: Some of his punches are fakes meant to bait a wasted dodge — stay patient and react to the real tell, not the feint.
  • Break away from Bear Hugger: Stay too close after a missed punch and he’ll grab you in a crushing bear hug, so keep your distance once he whiffs.
  • Save your star for a clean opening: A full KO meter does the most damage when it lands on a stunned opponent, not thrown defensively.
