Game description:

Super Contra is the intense 1988 arcade run-and-gun sequel developed by Konami. Returning heroes Bill Rizer and Lance Bean are back to battle a new alien threat, fighting through heavily fortified bases and alien lairs. The game replaces the original’s pseudo-3D base segments with frantic top-down stages, demanding fast reflexes and precise shooting to survive the unrelenting enemy waves.

How to Play

Your objective is to blast your way through enemy forces to reach and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. Use the Arrow keys to move and aim in eight directions. Press Z to shoot and X to jump. You can upgrade your firepower by destroying flying item pods and collecting weapons like the Machine Gun, Laser, and the fan-favorite Spread Gun.

Tips

  • Prioritize the Spread Gun: The “S” weapon is by far the most versatile, allowing you to cover a wide area and deal massive damage to bosses.
  • Master diagonal fire in top-down stages: When playing the overhead levels, moving and shooting diagonally makes it much easier to dodge incoming fire while taking out enemies before they get too close.
