Super Conflict – The Mideast is a classic hex-based strategy game released for the SNES in 1993. Developed by Vic Tokai, this sequel to the NES title Conflict puts you in command of modern military forces across various combat scenarios. You deploy infantry, tanks, fighter jets, and naval units on a tactical grid, battling enemy forces in a series of increasingly challenging turn-based wargames.
How to Play
The objective is to defeat the enemy forces by either destroying all their units or capturing their headquarters flag. You take turns moving your units across the hex grid, attacking enemies when in range. Terrain plays a major role in both movement distance and defense.
Default browser controls for SNES:
- D-pad (Arrow Keys): Move cursor and navigate menus
- A (Z) / B (X): Select units, confirm actions, or cancel/go back
- Start (Enter): Open the main menu or pause the game
- Select (Shift): View unit status or toggle map options
Tips
- Use terrain to your advantage: Stationing your units in cities, mountains, or forests significantly increases their defensive stats compared to leaving them in open plains.
- Know your unit match-ups: Anti-air units are essential for taking down bombers, while infantry is best used for capturing strategic cities rather than direct combat against tanks.
- Protect your commander: Losing your flagship or headquarters unit results in an instant loss, even if you have a superior army on the field.
