Super Battletank: War in the Gulf is a first-person tank simulation released for the Sega Genesis in 1992 by Absolute Entertainment. Set against the backdrop of Operation Desert Storm, you command an M1 Abrams tank through various combat zones. Rather than traditional side-scrolling action, the game puts you inside the cockpit, tasking you with hunting down enemy tanks, helicopters, and scud missiles using your radar, all while managing your limited fuel and ammunition.
How to Play
Your objective is to complete a series of missions by destroying specific targets marked on your tactical map before you run out of fuel or take too much damage. Arrows steer the tank and aim your turret, Z fires your main 120mm cannon, X fires the machine gun, and Enter pauses or brings up the map.
Tips
- Watch the radar: Enemies can attack from off-screen, so rely on your radar to track their positions and face them before they can get a clean shot.
- Manage your ammo: Your 120mm shells are limited. Use the machine gun for lighter targets like helicopters or infantry to conserve your heavy firepower for enemy tanks.
- Don’t sit still: The M1 Abrams is a large target. Keep moving during engagements to make it harder for enemy forces to zero in on you.
