Sunset Riders is a classic side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter developed by Konami and released for the Sega Genesis in 1992. Set in the Wild West, players take on the role of bounty hunters Billy or Cormano, each with their own distinct weaponsโBilly’s quick-firing revolvers or Cormano’s wide-spread shotgun. The Genesis version features unique level layouts and bosses compared to its arcade counterpart, delivering fast-paced, challenging arcade action directly to the 16-bit console.
How to Play
Your objective is to run, jump, and shoot your way through outlaws to claim the bounties on notorious wanted criminals at the end of each stage. For the default web emulator controls, use the Arrow keys to move and aim, Enter to Start, and Z / X / C (or A / S / D) for the Genesis action buttons to shoot and jump.
Tips
- Master the Slide: Press down-forward and jump to perform a slide. It’s essential for dodging high bullets and moving quickly under obstacles.
- Weapon Upgrades: Look out for badges dropped by enemies or found in sacks. Silver badges grant rapid-fire, while gold badges give you a powerful dual-wield spread shot.
- Use the Environment: You can shoot down barrels, chandeliers, and other hanging objects to crush enemies below.
