Stagger I (also known as Red Hawk) is a vertical-scrolling shoot-’em-up released in 1998 by the South Korean arcade developer Afega. Players take to the skies to battle through eight intense stages, selecting from four distinct fighter planes: the Tornado, P38, Super Star, or the titular Red Hawk. The game distinguishes itself with a unique charge-attack system alongside standard power-ups and screen-clearing smart bombs, offering a classic but challenging arcade experience.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive each of the eight stages by destroying waves of enemy aircraft and defeating the powerful boss at the end of each level. Use the arrow keys to maneuver your plane. Press Z to fire your main weaponโhold it down to unleash your plane’s unique charge attack. Press X to deploy a smart bomb when you are overwhelmed. To insert a coin, press Shift, and press Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Master the Charge Attack: Each of the four selectable planes has a different charge-attack pattern. Experiment with all of them to find which one suits your playstyle best.
- Save Your Bombs: Smart bombs are limited in supply. Try to save them for boss fights or moments when you are completely trapped by enemy fire.
