Game description:

Space Jam is a 1996 sports game developed by Sculptured Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the PlayStation, based on the hit live-action/animated film of the same name. Players control either the Tune Squad, featuring Michael Jordan alongside classic Looney Tunes characters, or the villainous Monstars in arcade-style 3-on-3 basketball matches. Between quarters, the game breaks up the action with a variety of themed minigames where players search for Michael’s gear or gather water bottles to boost their team’s stats.

How to Play

The core gameplay is a fast-paced 3-on-3 basketball match with exaggerated, cartoonish physics. The objective is to outscore the opposing team before the clock runs out, utilizing character-specific moves and power-ups scattered across the court. You can play as the balanced Tune Squad or the heavily powered Monstars, each featuring distinct speed, shooting, and power attributes. Between quarters, you participate in minigames to earn temporary stat boosts. For this PlayStation emulator, standard controls map the D-pad to your keyboard’s Arrow Keys, with X (Cross button) for passing or switching players, S (Square button) for shooting or jumping, and Z (Circle button) for turbo speed.

Tips

  • Pass Frequently: Passing is often more effective than trying to dribble through the opponent’s defense, as the AI is aggressive and easily steals the ball.
  • Win the Minigames: Pay close attention to the minigames between quarters. The stat boosts they provide, like increased speed or shooting accuracy, can make a significant difference in a tight match.
  • Manage Turbo: Use your turbo sparingly. Characters will become exhausted if you hold it down too long, leaving them sluggish and less accurate on the court.
