Game description:

Space Invaders DX is an arcade shoot ’em up released by Taito in 1994, bringing the iconic 1978 original into a definitive collection. Rather than just a straight port, DX includes the classic game with multiple cabinet visual styles, alongside a two-player competitive versus mode and a much-loved “Parody Mode”. In Parody Mode, the traditional alien invaders are replaced by colorful characters from other classic Taito titles, including Bubble Bobble, The NewZealand Story, and Darius.

How to Play

The goal remains the same as the original: move your laser cannon horizontally across the bottom of the screen to defend against descending waves of enemies, using the destructible shields for cover. Default arcade controls map the Arrow Keys to movement, with Z or X to fire. Use Shift or Enter to insert coins and start the game.

Tips

  • Timing your shots is crucial, as you can only have one laser blast on the screen at a time. Do not fire wildly.
  • The flying saucer that occasionally moves across the top of the screen awards bonus points. Try to hit it when you have a clear shot.
  • In Versus Mode, clearing invaders quickly sends extra enemies to your opponent’s screen, making fast, aggressive play the key to winning.
