Originally released in 1978, Space Invaders is the genre-defining action shooter by Taito. This version brings the iconic arcade experience to the Sega Genesis, challenging you to defend the planet from relentless waves of extraterrestrials as they march steadily toward the bottom of the screen.
How to Play
Your objective is to clear the screen of aliens before they touch down, using the four destructible bases for cover. Move your laser cannon left and right using the Arrow keys, and fire with S, X, or Z. Press Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Target the edges: The alien fleet changes direction and drops down a row when they reach the side of the screen. Taking out the outermost columns first forces them to travel further horizontally, slowing their overall descent.
- Carve your own bunkers: Instead of just hiding behind a shield, shoot a narrow gap through the middle of your own defenses. This creates a safe firing lane where you can hit enemies while remaining protected from their return fire.
- Pace your endgame: As you destroy more aliens, the remaining fleet moves significantly faster. Try to thin the horde out evenly so you aren’t left trying to hit a single, lightning-fast alien at the very end.
