Game description:

Sonic the Hedgehog [Spindash + Spike Bug Fix] is a quality-of-life ROM hack of the iconic Sega Genesis platformer created by Mariofan0. It brings two essential upgrades to the original classic: it adds the beloved spindash ability introduced in Sonic 2, and fixes the notorious spike bug that caused instant deaths upon landing on spikes without invincibility frames.

How to Play

Race through loops, collect rings, and defeat Dr. Robotnik with improved mobility. Use the Arrow Keys to move, and press Z, X, or C to jump. To perform the newly added spindash, hold Down while standing still and rapidly press jump to charge up speed, then release to blast forward.

Tips

  • Use the spindash to easily conquer steep inclines and half-pipes in zones like Spring Yard and Star Light.
  • Since the spike bug is fixed, you will bounce off spikes and temporarily flash invincible just like in later games, making platforming much fairer.
