Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble is a 1994 action platformer for the Game Gear developed by SEGA. Racing to collect the Chaos Emeralds, you face off against Dr. Robotnik, Knuckles, and a new rival, Fang the Sniper. The game stands out from earlier 8-bit entries by letting you choose between Sonic, who can use the Strike Dash for immediate bursts of speed, and Tails, who can fly over challenging hazards.
How to play
Your goal is to reach the end of each zone while collecting rings and avoiding enemies. Rings protect you from damage; taking a hit will cause you to drop a portion of your rings instead of losing them all at once. Use the arrow keys to move, press Z or X to jump or perform a spin attack, and press Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Use Tails for an easier time: Tails’ ability to fly makes navigating the game’s platforming sections and avoiding bottomless pits much safer.
- Find the Special Stages: Look for monitors with the Chaos Emerald icon. Breaking them and touching the ring that appears will warp you to the Special Stage to compete for an emerald.
