Released in 1986 by Sega for the Master System, Secret Command is an overhead run-and-gun shooter similar to Commando. Originally known as Ashura in Japan and released as Rambo: First Blood Part II in North America, this European version retains the same intense arcade action. You navigate vertically scrolling environments like jungles and mountains, clearing out enemy soldiers while rescuing prisoners of war.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage, defeating the boss while rescuing as many POWs as possible to restock your explosive arrows. In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to move your character. Press Z to fire your machine gun (which has unlimited ammo) and X to launch your limited supply of explosive arrows. Press Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Use your explosive arrows sparingly; save them for dense groups of enemies, fortified bunkers, and stage bosses.
- Always go out of your way to rescue the POWs in the orange huts, as they are your primary source of arrow refills.
- Keep moving laterally to dodge incoming fire, as enemy bullets travel relatively slowly but can overwhelm you in large numbers.
