Developed by BlueSky Software in 1990, Scrapyard Dog is a classic action-platformer for the Atari 7800. You play as Louie, tasked with rescuing his kidnapped dog Scraps from the clutches of Mr. Big. Spanning junkyards, sewers, and city streets, it pushes the console to deliver vibrant side-scrolling gameplay full of hidden rooms and shops.
How to play
The goal is to navigate Louie through a series of hazardous levels to reach Mr. Big. You can defeat most enemies by either throwing cans at them or stomping on their heads. Along the way, collect money to buy shields, extra lives, and power-ups from shops.

Tips
- Momentum is key: You need to build a running start to clear the wider gaps, especially in the tricky sewer stages.
- Jump rather than throw: Stomping on enemies often rewards you with bonus items, whereas taking them out with a thrown can gives you nothing.
- Hidden piano rooms: Pressing Up to enter certain doors and dumpsters can lead to bonus rooms where you earn cash by matching musical notes.
