Game description:

Schmeiser Robo Japan is a 1993 2D arcade fighting game developed by Hot-B. Set in a sci-fi future, you control one of eight distinct pilots fighting inside massive mechs known as Walkers. The game stands out for its ahead-of-its-time defensive mechanics, introducing advanced concepts that wouldn’t become standard in the genre until years later.

How to Play

Unlike traditional fighters that use backwards movement to block, this game features a dedicated three-button setup: Punch, Kick, and Guard. To play in your browser, insert a virtual coin (usually Shift or Select) and press Start (Enter). Map the three action buttons to your preference, and use the arrow keys to move your Walker.

Tips

  • Master the Guard Button: Because guarding is bound to a specific button, you can block while advancing or while in the air, giving you more mobility than in typical 2D fighters.
  • Try Parrying: Tapping the guard button at the exact moment an opponent’s strike lands will parry the attack, completely negating blockstun and opening them up for a counter-attack.
  • Watch Your Fighting Rate: The game tracks your efficiency with special moves, chain combos, and successful parries in a separate “Fighting Rate” score at the end of matches.
