Released for the NES in 1988 by Bandai, Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu Kanketsu Hen is an action role-playing game that adapts the Sanctuary arc of the classic manga. The adventure is split into two distinct styles: you first navigate side-scrolling platforming stages to reach each Gold Saint’s temple, before the game shifts into a turn-based, behind-the-back RPG boss battle. Managing your resources across both phases is the key to surviving the grueling climb through the twelve temples.
How to Play
In the side-scrolling sections, travel from left to right while defeating minor enemies to accumulate “Seventh Sense” points. Upon reaching a temple, you must allocate these points into your Life and Cosmo stats before engaging the Gold Saint in a turn-based menu fight. In the browser, use the Arrow keys to move and navigate menus, Z and X to jump, attack, or confirm selections, and Enter/Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- Follow the canonical matchups: Choosing the correct hero to fight a specific Gold Saint based on the original story will often trigger special events, bonuses, or revivals.
- Keep moving forward: While you can farm enemies for Seventh Sense points during the platforming segments, lingering in one area for too long causes damaging boulders to fall from the sky.
