Released for the NES in 1987 by Konami, Rush’n Attack (also known as Green Beret in arcades) is a notoriously punishing side-scrolling action game. Up to two players can team up to infiltrate heavily guarded military bases and rescue prisoners of war. Starting with nothing but a combat knife, you must face a relentless onslaught of enemy soldiers, relying on quick reflexes and careful timing to survive.
How to Play
Your objective is to fight your way to the end of each stage, defeat the boss, and proceed to the next area. While you rely primarily on close-quarters combat with your knife, you can collect limited-use secondary weapons by defeating specific enemies.
- Arrow Keys: Move and crouch. Press Up to jump or climb ladders.
- Z Key (B Button): Attack with your combat knife.
- X Key (A Button): Fire your special weapon.
- Enter (Start): Start or pause the game.
Tips
- Because jumping and climbing are both mapped to the Up key, be very careful when fighting near ladders to avoid grabbing onto them by mistake.
- Learn to strike from a crouched position. Many enemies shoot at chest height, making a duck-and-stab approach the safest way to clear a path.
- Save your limited special weapon ammo for the stage bosses and overwhelming clusters of enemies.
