Rush’n Attack (also known as Green Beret) is a classic 1985 arcade run-and-gun game developed by Konami. You play as a US Special Operations soldier infiltrating an enemy military base to rescue prisoners of war. Unlike most shooters of the era, your primary weapon is a combat knife, forcing you into close-quarters combat as you dodge, stab, and navigate your way through hordes of enemy troops, guard dogs, and artillery.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage, survive the enemy onslaught at the end of the level, and proceed to the next area to save the POWs. Since this is an arcade title, you will need to “insert coins” to begin.
- Insert Coin: Press 5
- Start Game: Press 1
- Movement: Arrow Keys to run left/right, crouch, and climb ladders
- Action: Z or Space to stab (or use current special weapon), X to jump
Tips
- Target yellow enemies: The soldiers wearing yellow uniforms drop limited-use special weapons like the flamethrower, grenades, or bazooka when defeated. Grab these to quickly clear crowded areas.
- Stab while ducking: You can crouch under most enemy gunfire and stab from that position, which is the safest way to deal with riflemen.
- Watch for jump kickers: The martial arts enemies will attempt to jump over your head and kick you. Time your attack just as they leap toward you to take them out mid-air.
