Game description:

Rumba Lumber is an obscure, top-down arcade action game developed by Taito in 1984. Once considered a lost title by arcade preservationists due to its complex hardware protection, the game offers a unique spin on space-management mechanics similar to Qix. You control a lumberjack navigating dense forest mazes, chopping down trees to carve out new paths while dodging hostile workers and hazards. Your primary objective in each of the 16 stages is to clear enough of the playfield and capture a target creature before the timer expires.

How to Play

Use the arrow keys to move your lumberjack and clear paths through the trees. The action buttons (typically Z, X, or Space) allow you to release large rolling stones down the paths you’ve created to crush pursuing enemies. The stage ends successfully when you clear the required area and capture the target.

Tips

  • Manage Your Stones: Your supply of rolling stones is strictly limited per stage. Try to lure multiple enemies into a single path before releasing a stone to maximize its impact.
  • Watch the Timer: While clearing the forest is essential, do not get so distracted by chopping trees that you run out of time to catch the target creature.
