R T Rod Land Prototype is an early, unreleased arcade build of the 1990 single-screen platformer developed by Jaleco. Starring the fairies Tam and Rit (whose names likely inspired the “R T” moniker), the game tasks you with rescuing your captive mother by clearing out a magical tower. Like the final release, this prototype features vibrant pixel art and fast-paced arcade action, offering a glimpse into the development of a cult classic.
How to Play
Your objective is to defeat every enemy on the screen to advance to the next floor of the tower. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move your fairy, Z to use your magic wand, X to jump, and Enter/Shift to insert coins and start.
Instead of jumping on enemies, you use your wand to trap them. Once an enemy is caught, press the wand button repeatedly to slam them side to side against the floor until they are defeated and drop a useful item or weapon.
Tips
- Slamming a captured enemy into other wandering enemies is a great way to take out multiple foes at once and clear crowded platforms.
- Try to collect all the flowers on a stage before defeating the enemies. Grabbing the final flower triggers a temporary “Extra” mode where enemies turn into harmless point-scoring items.
- Use the ladders strategically; enemies cannot hurt you if you are properly positioned on a ladder, letting you avoid incoming attacks.
