Game description:

Roundball – 2-on-2 Challenge brings classic half-court basketball to the NES. Published by Mindscape in 1992, this arcade-style sports game lets you play solo, against the computer, or competitively with up to four players. Choose your ideal duo from a roster of 24 unique fictitious players, each with their own stats and skills, to win the tournament championship.

How to Play

The objective is to outscore your opponents on a single half-court. On offense, the A Button passes while the B Button shoots. On defense, the A Button switches your controlled player, and the B Button attempts a steal, block, or rebound. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move.

Tips

  • Clear the ball: Because it is a half-court game, you must dribble or pass the ball beyond the top of the key after gaining possession on a rebound or steal before you can shoot. If you hear “Take it back,” you haven’t cleared it yet.
  • Watch the violations: Real basketball rules apply. Don’t linger in the key for more than three seconds, and be sure to release your shot before landing to avoid a traveling call.
  • Balance your team: Take a moment to review player stats before starting. Pairing a fast point guard with a tall center for rebounds usually yields the best results in tournament mode.
