Roll-chan 4 is a fan-made NES ROM hack of Capcom’s classic action-platformer Mega Man 4, created by romhacker Zynk Oxhyde. Instead of the Blue Bomber, you play as his sister Roll, completely redrawn with unique sprites to fit the adventure. It retains the tight mechanics, eight challenging Robot Masters, and iconic level design of the original, while offering a fresh visual take on a classic 8-bit experience.
How to Play
Your objective is to run, jump, and shoot your way through eight varied stages, defeat the Robot Masters to claim their weapons, and stop Dr. Cossack and Dr. Wily. As an NES game, the controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move, Z to jump (A button), and X to shoot (B button). Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
Don’t forget to use Roll’s slide ability (hold Down and press Jump) to slip under enemy fire and pass through narrow gaps. You can charge your buster shot by holding the attack button, which is essential for dealing heavy damage to tougher foes. If you’re struggling with the initial stages, Toad Man is generally considered to have the easiest pattern to learn, making his weapon a great first pick.
