Game description:

Roger Rabbit is a 1989 puzzle-platformer developed by Kemco for the Famicom Disk System. While North American players may recognise its gameplay from the NES release The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, this original Japanese version starred Roger Rabbit due to regional licensing differences. The game challenges you to navigate a series of side-scrolling rooms, avoiding enemies to collect all the hearts scattered throughout the stage.

How to Play

Your objective is to collect every heart in each level to advance to the next, all without the ability to jump. The game uses the default NES controls: the D-pad moves Roger and climbs stairs, while the A and B buttons let you deploy items like boxing gloves, with Start and Select for menus (mapped to the arrow keys + Z/X + Enter/Shift in your browser). Because you cannot leap over enemies, you must plan your route through doors and pipes to bypass them safely.

Tips

  • Use the Environment: If an enemy is approaching, duck into a doorway or travel through a pipe to quickly move out of their path.
  • Conserve Items: Save your boxing gloves and weights for when you are truly cornered. Pushing a heavy object off a ledge onto a foe is often safer than trying to punch them.
