Game description:

Rockman X (released internationally as Mega Man X) is the classic 1994 action platformer for the SNES. Developed by Capcom, this title takes the traditional 8-bit formula and modernizes it with a darker tone, a new protagonist, and much faster mobility. You play as X, exploring eight diverse Maverick stages to defeat bosses and absorb their signature weapons.

How to play

Your objective is to clear all eight Maverick stages before taking on Sigma’s fortress. The default SNES controls in your browser are mapped to the Arrow Keys for movement, Z, X, A, and S for the face buttons (jump, shoot, dash), Q and W for the shoulder triggers, and Enter / Shift for Start and Select.

Tips

  • Find the Leg Parts early: Head to Chill Penguin’s stage first to unlock the dash boots, which make evading attacks and platforming significantly easier.
  • Master the wall jump: You can cling to and scale almost any vertical surface. Use this to find hidden upgrades or stall above a boss’s attack pattern.
  • Exploit boss weaknesses: Every Maverick is severely weak to the weapon of another. For example, use Chill Penguin’s Shotgun Ice to easily defeat Spark Mandrill.
