Game description:

Rival Turf! is a 1992 side-scrolling beat ’em up developed by Jaleco for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Known as Rushing Beat in Japan, the game follows heroes Jack Flak and police officer Oozie Nelson as they battle through the gang-infested streets of Los Angeles to rescue Jack’s kidnapped girlfriend, Heather. It offers classic arcade-style brawling action and supports two-player cooperative play.

The goal is to fight your way through waves of enemies in each stage and defeat the boss to progress. The default SNES controls use the D-pad to move, Y to attack, B to jump, and A to unleash a crowd-clearing special attack that costs a small amount of your health. You can sprint by double-tapping a direction. In the browser, the SNES controls are typically mapped to the arrow keys for movement, Z/X/A/S for the face buttons, and Enter/Shift for Start/Select.

Use the game’s unique “Angry Mode” to your advantage: taking enough damage causes your character to temporarily turn invincible and deal massive damage, giving you a chance to clear out tough enemies. Focus on grabbing and throwing opponents to knock down groups, and save your special attack for desperate situations when you are completely surrounded.
