Ring Fighter is a competitive boxing game released for the arcade in 1984. Developed by Kaneko and distributed by Taito, this early sports title (also known as VS Gong Fight in Japan) drops players straight into the ring for classic head-to-head brawls.
How to play
Move your boxer around the ring using the directional inputs to close the distance or evade punches, and use your two action buttons to throw strikes and defend yourself. Spacing and timing are key to landing the knockout blow against your opponent.
Controls: Use the arrow keys to move, and Z and X to punch and block. Insert a coin with Shift and press Enter to start.
Tips
- Avoid mindless button mashing; watch your opponent’s guard and look for openings after they miss a strike.
- Keep your boxer moving to avoid getting cornered against the ropes, which limits your ability to retreat.
