R-Type is a legendary side-scrolling shoot-’em-up originally released in arcades by Irem. This version is an arcade bootleg of the classic title. Piloting the R-9A Arrowhead starfighter, players are tasked with defending humanity against the grotesque and biomechanical Bydo Empire. The game is famous for its deliberate pacing, memorable boss encounters, and the introduction of the innovative Force pod mechanic.

The objective is to survive through increasingly difficult stages while blasting through waves of alien enemies. Tips

• Master the Force: Your Force pod is indestructible and blocks incoming projectiles. Position it on the front of your ship for offense or attach it to the rear to protect yourself from ambushes.
• Use the Charge Shot: While rapid fire is useful for weak enemies, charging the Wave Cannon allows you to pierce through armored targets and deal massive damage to bosses.
• Memorization is Key: R-Type heavily relies on learning enemy spawn patterns. Take your time to memorize where threats appear so you can preemptively position your ship safely.
