Game description:

Quester Special Edition is an arcade block-breaking game released by Namco in 1987. A follow-up to the original Quester, this special edition features an entirely new set of 33 rounds, many of which were designed by readers of Namco's company magazine. You'll bounce your ball against formations shaped like classic Namco characters, including Pooka from Dig Dug and Princess Ki from The Tower of Druaga, while collecting power-ups to help clear the screen.

How to Play

Your goal is to destroy all the colored blocks in each round without letting the ball drop past your paddle. In the browser emulator, insert virtual coins with the Shift key and press Enter to start. Move your paddle left and right using the Arrow Keys, and use the Z or X key to launch the ball or fire power-ups.

Tips

  • Grab the right power-ups: Catching the “L” (Laser) power-up lets your paddle shoot lasers to break blocks directly, which is extremely helpful for clearing out hard-to-reach sections.
  • Watch for barrier lines: Some stages feature a temporary barrier at the bottom of the screen that will save the ball from dropping once; play aggressively while this safety net is active.
