Originally released in arcades and later ported to the Game Boy Color in 2000, Puzzle Bobble 4 (known as Bust-A-Move 4 in North America) is a classic tile-matching puzzle game developed by Taito. Players take control of the iconic dragons Bub and Bob, aiming and firing colored bubbles to clear the screen before the descending ceiling crushes them. This portable version features the series’ signature pulley system mechanic, where clearing bubbles attached to a weighted scale shifts the balance of the board.
How to Play
Your objective is to clear the board by connecting three or more bubbles of the same color. Aim carefully and fire from the launcher at the bottom of the screen. If the bubbles cross the line at the bottom, the game is over.
- Aim: Left / Right arrow keys (D-pad)
- Fire Bubble: Z or X keys (A / B buttons)
- Start / Pause: Enter (Start button)
Tips
- Bank your shots: Use the side walls to bounce bubbles into tight spaces or hard-to-reach clusters.
- Drop unsupported bubbles: Aim for the bubbles near the top that are holding a larger cluster together. Popping the structural bubbles will cause all attached bubbles below to fall, earning you extra points and clearing the board faster.
- Watch the pulley: When playing on stages with the pulley system, balance your shots carefully. Popping bubbles on one side will cause the lighter side to rise and the heavier side to lower.
