Pushman is an arcade puzzle game released in 1990 by Korean developer Comad. Drawing strong inspiration from classics like Sokoban, the game tasks players with navigating single-screen mazes by pushing and pulling boxes to fill holes blocking the exit. You must carefully plan your moves while under a strict time limit, dodging traps and avoiding enemy projectiles. To help clear the trickier puzzles, you can collect “P” power-ups that grant the ability to pull boxes backward, adding a fresh twist to the traditional block-pushing mechanics.
How to Play
The goal of each level is to push or pull boxes into holes to clear a path to the exit before the timer runs out. Use the arrow keys to move your character. The Z and X keys act as your primary arcade buttons for interacting with boxes (especially when pulling them with the “P” power-up). Press Shift to insert a virtual coin and Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Always scan the maze before making your first move; pushing a box into a corner without the pull power-up will permanently block your path and force a restart.
- Prioritize collecting the “P” power-up as early as possible on stages that offer it, as the ability to pull boxes is essential for solving many of the game’s more complex layouts.
